Stigma around depression and mental illness
Stigma surrounding mental illness often stems from a deep-seated lack of understanding, fueling ignorance and spreading misinformation. Many people carry prejudices and outdated beliefs about depression and other mental health conditions, which only adds to the challenges faced by those who are struggling. This cloud of misunderstanding leads to discrimination, creating a chilling fear of seeking help. As a result, unresolved issues can spiral, tragically pushing individuals toward permanent solutions like suicide. We need to confront these misconceptions head-on and foster a culture of empathy and support instead.
